Dick DeVos is from Michigan. He has been declared the 67th richest person in the United States. He is an entrepreneur, learning early in childhood not to let limitations stop him, as he grew up watching the family business flourish from the basement of their home. He ran for Governor of Michigan but lost in 2012. Despite his loss to Jennifer Granholm for Governor, Richard Marvin Devos Jr. still flourishes in participating in the healthy growth of public schools in Michigan, His win in 2006 to be added to the Michigan State Bo0ard of Educations was where he started his contribution to the public school systems of Michigan.


In 1993 Dick and his wife humbly accepted the title as co-chairs of the Education Freedom Fund. This is a program which provides children of low-income families to be able to have the opportunity to earn a scholarship to the private school of his or her choice, eliminating the limitation of poverty when it comes to better education. Dick match $7.5 million that the Children’s Scholarship Fund donated to the Education Freedom Fund, and in doing so this fund has been able to provide over 4,000 students with a chance to receive scholarships to their favorite private school of their choice.


In addition to his numerous donations to helping Michigan become a more healthy state through the development of education, he also published a book which became one of New York Times best-selling book.


Dick and his Wife have a very successful marriage as well, having been married for over 30 years with 11 children and grandchildren collectively.
